Firstly, I removed the pink background, as through my research, I found out the majority of music magazines, espeically RnB magazine. Don'tt have a colour background and they are usually black or white.

To this i clicked the Background tool -

and changed the hardness of the brush to 50%, as this allowed the editing to flow easier, making it easier to edit. Futhermore I changed the brush size to 793px to quickly removed the backround, as there was a lot of pink around the image. Threfore if i used a small brush at this moment in time it would be time consuming.

After i finished removing the majoirty of the background. I then zoomed into around 300%.

As there was still a lot of pink colour still surrounding the edge of the image. Which was hard to erase when the image was full sized as the image was too small, therefore it will hard to control the effect the eraser had on the image and it will be hard  to get into the edges of the main image, without erasing parts of the image that i needed. I also decreased the brush size to around 12px, as it would be easier to control the effect the brush had, if the brush was smaller, as what i was trying to erarse was very small.

I then opened a new photoshot background, which was the place that my front cover would be created. I used the following dimension on the left, as well as using a bakcgourn colour of white. As this will mnake sure i follow the covnetions of an RnB magazine, in order to make sure I had made a sucessful RnB music magazine,

I then used the arrow           to drag my main image onto the page of the white

backgound  to drag the tool. And used CMD T to resize the image to fit it the scale of  the page

Right clicked on the layer my image was in and clicked blending options

I chose the colours 'red - DB0909' , 'black - 010101' and white 'FFFFFF' as i wanted to have a house style colours of black, white and red, which will be reflected further throughout the contents page and the double page spread of my magazine. Futhermore, I also chose to have this colour scheme as I felt like it will complement the colours that the cover star is wearing, as red complements green, as shown in the colour wheel. As well as the fact that dark colours are often common conventions of RnB magazines, therefore I knew that my colour scheme had to be dark colours.

I used this font as it is graffitied, which is a common convention of the place 'Brooklyn'. Furthemore. Graffit writing is also a covnetion of the RnB and urban. Which means that the fact the artist is an RnB artist and that it is an RnB magazine is establsuhed through the font used. Moreover, the colour used is purple - 6C093A. I used a different font to my colour scheme to promote how the artist is seen as different and is made it stand out which means that the targte audicne are drawn directly to who is on the front of the magazine. Also, by doing my research into music magaiznes, i found out the artists name is usually in a different colour to the coclour scheme

Next, I  added 4 boxes using the rectangle tool

I added three black boxes of 'black 010101' and one red box of 'DB0909' in order to keep the colour scheme consistent which makes the magazine look organised. The boxes will be used for different texts, which means that they needed to be different sizes and lengths.

I changed the orentation of the boxes, by clicking on them and using arrows to adjust them of to the rotation and size that I wanted.

I had 2 of the black boxes overlapping the 'Brooklyn' font, as i wanted them to voerlap in order to look more like a rnb magazine, as if it was an orderned layout instead of a cluttered layout it would look too formal for the my chosen genre.

I put 'December 15' on the front cover, to show that is the last issue of the year and to show that the magazine is a monthly magazine. which is reflected in the price of the magazine. I also added a inner shadow to font, to make it stand out more from the black background.

Font colour

I used 'viper nora' font which is sans serif for all of the cover stories which are on the front cover.  I felt this was the best font to use for my chose genre of RnB as I felt that it reflect the genre well as it is quite a urban font. Also, while doing my research I came across a lot of urban fonts on the front cover of many RnB magazines, so i felt this one would be best.

Font size

Add blending options to Brooklyn. In order to maker her name stand out more and stamp her name throughout the magazine.

I chose this font, as it is a very urban font. As i associated it with a font you would see on a brick wall. which is a common association with Urban or RnB. this therefore means I am following the conventions of RnB. Furthermore, I also chosen to have a white font on a black backround as there are the colours in  the color scheme. And it makes the title stand out without using a completely different colour to the colour scheme. Also i made the 'city' size 65, in order to make the pulse stand out, to reflect the idea that it is a music magazine.

I put both 'the year' and 'became queen' in viper nora which is the same font of my cover stories, as this adds consistancy to the front cover, as there isnt a lot of fonts on my front cover , which will make it look busy and unprofessional.Furthermore, the RnB magazine i looked at had limited fonts on the front cover. Also, i also used white text on a black background, to match with the masthead of my magazine.

I used the same font in the coverline of the magazine. And used a stroke on front as it makes the white stand out on the red background. Also, it uses all 3 colours in my colour scheme, so the colour scheme is established right at the top of the front cover.

through editing on photoshop, I have transformed the picture of the left into the picture on the right.
