Main image

The main image of the magazine is of Beyoncé who is seen as one of the most dominant female musicians in the music industry, in particular in the RnB industry.  The fact that Beyoncé is well known promotes the magazine as well as the artist. Also, she dominates the front cover of the magazine, which conveys that the artist is a true representation of the audience and something that they will be interested in. There are no other images used on the front cover, apart from the billboard logo. This is because the magazine wants the target audience to only be focused on Beyonce, as she is the main image, and she is the main aspect of the magazine that will contribute to the amount of magazines sold. Because Beyonce is covering the masthead slightly, suggest that she is the most important feature on the magazine, even more important than the title, or it could suggest that the magazine is well known and popular and is therefore recognized regardless of it being partially covered. She is dressed in quite an old fashioned way for this

 

 

 

Strapline

There isn’t a strapline present which could suggest that the magazine is quite universal and anyone who likes different genres of music, as the magazine is for ‘pop’ music and there are different genres of pop music amugst many genres of  music as it stands for popular. This therefore meansthat unlike many other magazines such as 'kerrang', Billboard doesn't have a specific genre of music that it appeals to. 

 

century. The clothing she is wearing is in conjunction with the house style of the magazine and is quite universal, as it can be worn by many different types of people when they go out, and not just people that fall into a certain fashion sense such as urban. The target audience for billboard magazine ranges from young teens around 15 to young adults around the age of 26. This is because the magazine provides information in artist that mainly appeals to the younger generation such as ‘Justin Bieber’ or ‘Taylor Swift’, as this is the sort of music that the target audience will be interested in, therefore makes them want to buy the magazine.

Masthead

 

The masthead of the magazine is bold which has connotations of strength and confidence. This suggests that the audience are very confident people that aren’t afraid to stand out from society. Such as how the coverstar, has very bold make up on such as dark eyeshadow and red lipstick, which makes her stand out from the rest of the page, even though she background is red. This therefore shows how even if you are seen the same as everyone else, you can still stand out from society by having your own individual touch. Furthermore, the masthead is majority white, with a bit of blue, yellow and green. As well as red, which is a common colour used throughout, not only this magazine but also pop magazines.
